New York City travel | USA - Lonely Planet

I have friends arriving from London soon and would like to send them a guide book in advance of their arrival. While I've lived all of my life here, it is rare that I consult tourist guide books! I imagine all of you NYC expert traveller's out there have some favorites, so I would appreciate recommendations. I am concerned less with hotel recommendations, as they already have places to stay and more with sightseeing and maybe just a bit of shopping. I am most concerned that the guidebook be very legible, with largish print, and sensibly laid out, in your opinion. It's the NY Classic version from this co. I often buy travel guides, and have a number for New York.

But these are precisely the kinds of places that are a little bit too small or too specialized to make it onto the pages of traditional guides. Seeing a photo of wild turkeys in a Bronx park may make you do a double take… or it may just send you out on a totally unexpected adventure. It then brings the reader fully into the 21st century with interviews and listings for bookstores, museums, and other sites of particular interest for enthusiastic readers.
