Stuff that's important (to me)
A hearty serve of pop confectionery. Photo: Ken Grady. In a year when people are reeling from the loss of the greatest glam rocker of them all, David Bowie, and a new generation is only now discovering his sublime back catalogue, it is probably not the best time to release a monster DVD box — all minutes of it — comprehensively covering the full career of those cartoonish Chinni-Chap glamsters, The Sweet. They hawked manufactured pop confection delivered in satin super hero outfits and outlandish boots, and all of the hits they foisted upon their public that you probably once loved but have now forgotten are here. Many of them are, in fact, included multiple times. Totally un-PC good times….
Fab group, I loved them and still do. Brian's surname is spelt Connolly by the way. I've just discovered this band -- which is kind of how MY luck runs. First band I'm interested in, in over a decade, and the actual, original version of it no longer exists plus two dead members to boot. I've spent the better part of a week now scouring YouTube and the internet in general for clips and pictures and articles which is how I ended up here , happily consumed by my obsession. So far I like pretty much everything they've done, from the early Poppa Joe on forward.
