JUNGLE ANIMAL YOGA FOR KIDS
Together with all our Facebook Baby Sign Language Friends we compiled a list of our most loved books for babies and toddlers. Our first list is focused on books about animals. We have included a few signs associated with each book to help you and baby expand your signing vocabulary while embracing the joy of reading. This book by Nancy Shaw is a lovely treat. While it is recommended for ages 4 and up I think most of us agree that Sheep in a Jeep is a tremendously fun read with endless rhymes lots of silliness and wonder. We love that it incorporates lots of onomatopoeia and has lovely illustrations by Margot Apple. Nancy has a whole series on sheep certainly worth exploring.
Another book with a great rhythm to it for our second choice this week. Walking Through the Jungle is a really nice read for young children and J quickly has picked up which animals are next and even though he knows — he still acts surprised with what animal appears next. We love the way that each animal is introduced and then the animals sounds repeated as well. If you have never read any Giles Andreae books then Rumble in the Jungle is a great one to start off with. A collection of short poems about the jungle animals that you meet along the way with tigers and chimps.
There are plenty of really uninspired ones, but there are some gems that make me happy to read about the same animals over and over again. If, like my girls, your little ones love animals, here are some great books to start you both out. This sturdy board book is filled with delightful animal surprises under each flap. The combination of counting and animals is top-notch and the illustrations are sweet and simple. From Caldecott-winning author, Peggy Rathmann, this has been one of our very favorite animal books. As the zookeeper locks up for the night, a tricky gorilla trails behind him letting out each of the animals, who then proceed to follow the zookeeper home.

Friday, July 25, Edit this post. We read some fantastic books this week as part of our jungle theme preschool week. I know that the jungle and the rainforest are not exactly the same thing, but I thought they were close enough to combine them in this book list. I hope you find some reading inspiration in this list of Books About The Jungle! This post may contain Amazon or other affiliate links.
