How to Find Love in a Book Shop
Full disclosure….. If you are a book lover and always dreamed of finding love in a bookshop then this is the book for you based on the title alone! As cheesy as it sounds I feel like every single person should have a HEA in this story. Emilia has just returned to her idyllic Cotswold hometown to rescue the family business. Ok so first of all….. It was like all of my favorite novels balled up into one. I loved the parallels of the characters in this book with some other recognizable stories.
In this charmer of a story, Nightingale Books is in many ways the main character. A beloved if slightly rundown shop run by Julius Nightingale, it is a central meeting place in the British village of Peasebrook. Gossip is exchanged, tea is consumed, and occasionally, books are purchased. When Julius succumbs to cancer, his adult daughter, Emilia, inherits the business. Julius had impeccable taste in literature, but his bookkeeping left much to be desired. Emilia is left to figure out whether she can keep the store afloat—or if she should sell the property to an eager real estate investor and flee her grief.
Imagine being a single father with no real job or goals, and he is still a dreamer. So when you get the offer to buy a bookstore for just 5 pounds, what a beautiful and exciting possibility. Julius is 23 years old and works at a bookshop. He is a little womaniser and one day he meets Rebecca, an American student, who after they spend a night together, chooses to stay with him in Peasebrook, near Oxford. Sometimes life has its funny ways of coming at you. As fast as the pair came together, they fall pregnant, and the moment Emilia was born, Rebecca died.
